Mrs. Shelly Jarl To All Instructors
Shelly Jarl teaches middle school writing at Cornerstone.
She has been married to her husband Tom for the last 26 years. They have two daughters, Emily, 22, and Grace, 19. The family began their homeschool journey in 2013 when they decided Classical Conversations (CC) was right for their family. Both of their girls have graduated from CC and are now attending college. Shelly had tutored the Essentials Program for 4 years for CC. In Essentials, students study English Grammar, Institute in Excellence in Writing (IEW), and develop mental math skills. This is for the 4th -6th grades. She has directed Challenge II-IV (grades 10th-12th) levels for the last 7 years. Next year, Shelly is licensed to Direct Challenge I (9th grade). She is looking forward to instructing two classes here at Cornerstone. The Introduction to IEW and the English Language, and the Lost Tools of Writing American Literature course. Both programs work very well to guide students in developing their writing and thinking skills. When Shelly is not leading conversations in the classroom, she enjoys traveling with her family, spending time on their hobby farm, and gardening.
